Band Of The Week: The Cinematic Orchestra

Slight Band History:  The Cinematic Orchestra was created in 1999 by Jason Swinscoe, other than him the Band members are former DJ Food member PC (Patrick Carpenter) on turntables, Luke Flowers (drums), Tom Chant (Saxophone), Nick Ramm ( piano), Stuart McCallum ( guitar) and Phil France (double bass). Swinscoe and Carpenter"PC" have also been in a band called Neptune. Swinscoe first had a band called Crabladder while he was studying Fine Art at Cardiff College in 1990. Also being a DJ on Heart FM a radio station in south london. Details: Genre: Nu jazz, Downtempo, Acid Jazz, electronica, fusion of jazz and hardcore punk elements. Activity: 1999 - still going Name Origin: N/A for now. Band Of The Week: We Are The Ocean

Slight Band History: We Are The Ocean consists in vocalist Liam Cromby, bass guitarist Jack Spence, guitarist Alfie Scully and drummer Tom Whittaker and in one point second vocalist Dan Brown. Jack Spence and Dan Brown originally were in a band called "Dead But Still Dreaming" this band disbanded and Jack and Dan looked for more members under the same band name, after a while the band decided to start new with a new name and changed the name to "We Are The Ocean" in 2007. When they changed their name they went into a lot of social networks to build fandom and were especially  successful  in Myspace which resulted in a nomination for "Best British Newcomer" in the Kerrang Awads before even releasing a record.  Details: Genre: Alternative Rock, Melodic Rock, Pop Rock, Post-Hardcore Activity: 2007 to now Name Origin: N/A for now Studio Albums:  We Are The Ocean EP(2008 Look Alive EP(2009) Cutting Our Teeth(2010) Go Now And Live(2011)

Band Of The Week: Less Than Jake

Slight Band History:  Less Than Jake was formed in 1992, This band consists of Chris DeMakes (vocals, guitar),Roger Lima (vocals, bass), Vinnie Fiorello (drums, lyrics), Peter "JR" Wasilewski (saxophone) and Buddy Schaub (trombone). Their album "Anthem"(2003) was their most commercially success and the band has their own label since 2008 "Sleep It Off Records". Before being Less Than Jake while being in high school, vocalist and guitarist Chris DeMakes, bassist Shaun Grief (Shaun Grief would eventually be Less Than Jake's roadie) and drummer Vinnie Fiorello had a local band called " Good Grief". Good Grief broke up when Chris DeMakes went to University of Florida. Vinnie Fiorello would go to the University of Florida on the weekends to meet with Chris to write songs. Eventually Vinne moved to University of Florida as well. When Chris and Vinnie were reunited they started thinking what to name the band and on July 13 of 1992 Less Than

Band Of The Week: The Royal Concept

Slight Band History: The Royal Concept originally known as “Concept Store”, “The Concept” and “Stockholm’s Royal Concept”. The band is composed of David Larson (guitar, keyboard and vocals),  Filip Bekic (guitar) ,  Robert  Magnus (bass) and Frans Povel (drums). This group is relatively new, their debut was in 2010 under the name of “Concept Store” with their single “Damn” showing their electronica mix with a “Phoenix” like sound. The band changed their name to “The Royal Concept” in 2012. Details: Genre: Indie Rock, Indie Pop, Alternative Rock, Synthpop Activity: 2010-Present Name Origin: N/A (for now) Studio Albums:  -Goldrushed(2013) EP: - The Royal Concept EP(2012) -Royal-EP (2013)  From: Stockholm, Sweden  Fun Facts About the Band:  1.
