Music in Video Games: Katana Zero

Image
Katana Zero is an indie game published by Devolver Digital and developed by Askiisoft. This is a 2D action platformer game and I am completely hooked with this game. I got it on the switch about 2 weeks ago now and I have played it countless times, from passing the story to doing my best in the speed run mode. But what makes this game so addicting and fun? well firstly the aesthetics in this game are just great, it has this cyberpunk sci-fi vibe to it with many retro-wave aspects as well, it just makes you feel nostalgic for a dystopian future that does not exist. The story is very interesting, amazing visuals, slick and responsive controls but what really takes the cake is the perfect soundtrack that this game is accompanied with. I cannot stress enough how good the music in this game is, it ties together everything the game is creating a very memorable vibe to the game that I honestly can't think many games have pulled off with the exception of maybe Hotline Miami. This gam

Short Film: Playita: Corazón Resiliente

Here is a documentary short that I worked on for one of my university classes. I worked as Editor in this short and I am quite proud of it because it was a lot of work and research to pull this off not to mention all the hours that went on editing this. Very happy with this project and glad that I can finally share with you guys. As always giving the focus on music of this blog, the music used in this short was by Delta Sleep and their song Camp Adventure, last song was from a friend of mine  Lincoln McGregor  great composer if you're looking for someone. So without further ado here is the short.

The Interrupters Concert!

Image
I went to Ft Lauderdale on March 8 to catch The Interrupters live again! I say again because this is the second time I've seen them, first time being in Vans Warp Tour 2018 at West Palm Beach, but this time they blew it out of the park, this concert was so amazing in so many ways that I wouldn't mind seeing them yet again. I wanted to see them again because even though they were awesome in Vans Warped tour they only had a 30 minute set so I wanted more and I sure as hell got that here plus they played Babylon! they killed me with that one. The Interrupters Pictures: Also got to see RAT BOY for the first time, I have previously talked about him in this blog and have expressed how much I like his music, this dude did a great show and did the same effect that The Interrupters did in Vans, now I want to see a full show of him because they were a lot of songs that I like from Rat Boy that they probably didn't have time to play, So looking forward to that

Video: Silent Streets

Here is a new video made with the unused footage from Contrast , just like the previous video this is a one minute video or "Filminuto" short. This time exploring the concept of emptiness and the eerie feeling you get from it. As always with my videos the music is a key thing, for this one the song is "Channel 1 Suite" from no other that " The Cinematic Orchestra " Which I have talked about in the past. Here is the link! https://vimeo.com/318237571 Hope you guys like it!

Cover of the Week: Hey ya

Image
This here is one of my favorite covers ever, because it turns a very fast paces fun song to a more melancholic, soothing and reflective to a point, not saying the original "Hey Ya" by "OutKast" is bad by any regards it's actually a fantastic song but like I have said before what I really like about covers is when they transform a song to a whole different genre and give it a whole different perspective and feeling to it and The Blanks version delivers both things. I heard the song the first time through Scrubs because the leader of The Blanks, Sam Llyod is one of the recurring cast as Ted the lawyer and he a hysterical character and he actually has a band in the show based on his real band which I think it's awesome. Here is the Cover: Here is the Original: Sam Lyod recently found out that he has cancer but being the amazing guy he is, he has remained humorous and positive through and through so that being said if you are interested and

Music in Video Games: Celeste

Image
Celeste is an indie platformer game made my Matt Makes Games who also made Towerfall, both of these games are fantastic in their own way but Celeste takes the cake when it comes to music. The music in Celeste is so entrancing in many ways and the fact that you're probably gonna hear the stage's song over and over again because you'll probably die a lot because of the insane difficulty and still not get tired of these songs because of how well they combine with the stage and overall feeling of the game. Making all of the songs a huge motivator along the way. This game was a really big challenge, but I enjoyed it nevertheless. It's been a long time since I have actually felt like I accomplished something from passing a game, and this game delivers that satisfaction in strides. When you finally reach that top you feel like you learned something in the way and it's pretty special. All this feeling accompanied with a great soundtrack makes this game one of the best
