Band Of The Week: Linkin Park
Slight Band History:
(In Memory Of Chester)
Linkin Park was founded by three high school friends; Mike
Shinoda, Rob Bourdon and Brad Delson. After graduating from high school, the
three took their music interest in a more serious note recruiting Joe Hahn and
Mark Wakefield to perform in their band but frustration came fast when the band
couldn't land a record deal due to this the bands current vocalist Mark leaves
the band for other projects. After a time searching they recruit Chester
Bennington, Bennington was formerly from a post-grunge band named "Grey
Daze” after this they renamed the band from Xero to Hybrid Theory. They
released a self-titled album and with the band's changed in style and sound
thanks to the mixture of Bennington and Shinoda they once again changed their
name to Linkin Park a homage to Santa Monica's Lincoln Park(now called
Christine Emerson Reed Park) after a couple of rejections with major record
deals the band goes to Jeff Blue by this time vice president of Warner Brothers
Records and helped them sign a deal realizing Hybrid Theory. Linkin Park got
international fame with their debut album Hybrid Theory with their following
with Meteora that continued the band's success topping the Billboard 200 album

Personal Opinion:
Linkin Park. A very special band and very known band when so
many people have felt the lost of Chester Bennington, as for many Linkin Park
was a very important band in my childhood, one of those first bands that I
learned a bunch of songs from, followed and was proud of being a fan of and
even through the years when I started listening less to them they always found
a way to slip a new song that would captivate me somehow. This was a very sad
loss to music in general due to the impact that this band has done, anyone even
people that didn't enjoy rock or where very aware of it liked,
recognized and enjoyed Linkin Park, it was one of those few bands that
many people from different groups enjoyed equally, it was truly a very
unique thing. This is a long coming post because I actually can't believe how
much the news affected me, it instantly reminded me how all those lyrics made
me felt, all the words that I have screamed with passion by myself and with
friends, those long nights where I just played video games like Smash or Mortal
Kombat with my cousins with Numb, In The End and any other song from them
playing in the background, heck just a year ago I was talking about Linkin Park
with someone I just met and right after we both finished expressing our likes
for the band having a sing off of Breaking the Habit while driving around to
get food, and that's just few of the memories that it triggers, It is truly a
very unique thing and a terrible loss to music. Thanks for all the great times
and defining my fondness of music overall. RIP Chester Bennington.
