Music In Video Games: Undertale

I am fairly new to Undertale having passed it around April of this year but that doesn't mean in any way how much this game impacted me and how much I overall enjoyed the experience (mostly the pacifist route) but overall everything. I figured since the game recently got released for Nintendo Switch what better time to talk about this game and its wonderful music which by no one's surprise is by far my favorite aspect of this game. To think I almost passed the chance to play this game considering I still hold it as one of my favorite games that I have played this year. Thanks to a friend of mine who pushed me into playing it basically and actually buying it and not even play it until 2 to 3 months later but what eventually got me to play it was that this same friend brought his ps4 over one time and he had the Undertale Ruins Dynamic Theme which has a very melodic calm tune playing, this song ultimately made me want to play the game, because this song had something special to it like it made me feel calm and nostalgic for something that I have never played and that was such a rare feeling that I decided to finally ignore all the bad rep this game had gotten because of its community and try this game out for myself and god damn I'm glad I did and will not commit that mistake again.

Now all that being said this game blew my mind because of how it made fun of classic video game tropes and turned RPG elements upside down. The writing in this game is phenomenal, funny and it makes you care for all the characters you meet, it has a way to always get you by surprise regardless of how much you know about the game, sometimes I wish I didn't knew anything from it and just play it how I would normally play these types of games just so the game would make me feel bad for playing it that way, that idea alone was fascinating for me. Even with all those great elements and wanting to play multiple times to see everything what really stuck with me was the same thing that got me into the game in the first place which was the music. As soon as finished the game I got obsessed with its soundtrack, repeating it none stop in Spotify to the point that I think that it's going to be my most listened album this year. Like I said in the beginning the music in this game has a way to make you feel nostalgic, warm and filled with excitement making this game pretty unforgettable and ageless to me. It's been quite some time since a game has made me feel that much attachment to itself and I am for one happy it did. So for what is worth even though I'm pretty sure that a lot of you that have never played this game have heard this countless times I’ll just say it as well just ignore anything you've heard, give this game a try and just play it however you want, it'll sure give you something to enjoy and it is such a nice treat to play something that feels that the creator had so much love and care for. It is truly special in its own way.
