Music in Media: Bojack Horseman

I just finished watching Bojack Horseman. I am utterly surprised with how much I enjoyed this show and how much it has giving me to think about regarding past, present and future problems. Definitely not for everyone due to the fact that this show can get pretty dark in some instances and it can leave you in a bad mind set overall but for me at least I think it has in a way added some perspective in my life, especially these days that we've been around 6 to 7 month just stuck inside with not much going on. It just felt oddly real, kind of nihilistic of sorts sure but with a sense of bettering yourself and not being all entirely pointless. The strong message that you are what your experiences made you and dealing with the after mention, making the better of things without taking everything to seriously but also not taking them for granted, it is a pretty powerful show in that regard and I am glad I watched it. Gives me the feeling of trying to just enjoy myself, bettering myself and not worry so much, at the end is all we can all hope to do, have a good time.

That being said this show is accompanied with an amazing soundtrack that in a sense captures the essence of that this show is all about. So here I will add 3 songs that I think are great doing just that.

Firstly the end credit theme:

It's a short song but very straight to the point. It conveys and summarizes almost perfectly one of the many Bojack's issues and feelings throughout the show, I just hope Netflix wouldn't be so obnoxious when it comes to skipping credits so I could hear it more often while watching the show.

This song is the end credit of the episode "Fish out of Water" from season 3, by far one of the coolest and most creative episodes of the whole show. I was entranced by this episode from start to finish and it's amazing considering is almost a fully a silent episode with little to almost no dialogue at all. Even with that it manages to deliver an amazing message just with the animation alone.

Lastly but certainly not least.

Mr. Blue

By far the most beautiful song in the whole show. Fitting it's the last ever song you hear when the show ends. I almost have no words how strongly this song makes me resonate with the show, it feels like it catches all the themes of the show into one melancholic 2 minute song. All I know is that the ending shot with this song will be engraved inside my head for a long time coming.
