Slight Band History:

Eels is a band made by singer/songwriter and multi-instrument player Mark Oliver Everett, better known as "E". The band members change and go a lot making Mark the only official band member. Eels talk about dark themes of family, death and lost love even so each Eels album have a different/peculiar sound to them. It's a very diverge band. Mark began to play drums at age of six and played around with his family piano. He started to have a interest in rock music via his sister record collection. He had a troubled teenage life which was further more complicated with his father's death, however by this he got more interested in music and started to learn other instruments like his sister's guitar and started writing and composing his own songs.

Eels have a bunch of appearances in soundtracks like;  Scream 2, American Beauty, Road Trip, Holes, The Anniversary Party, Knocked Up, Yes Man, The End of Violence, Hellboy II, Hot Fuzz, Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away 3D, Charlie Bartlett, Enough Said, Delivery Man, Scrubs and the first three Shrek films.

2. Daisies of the Galaxy was recorded almost entirely in E's basement.

3. the band released a parody music video called "Cold Dead Hand" through Funny or Die, with Jim Carrey

Reason: It's one of my Favorites. 

Personal Opinion:

I found out about them because my neighbor one time told me to check them out and that if you've seen Shrek you'll probably know some of their songs, I found that pretty interesting so i checked them out and when I heard Fresh Feelings on Scrubs they hooked me up completely. They are a very particular band which i found catchy and very good quickly, though it depends on your mood entirely to like some songs but nevertheless check this band out, It's a pretty solid good band and they have a heck lot of songs you are bound to like at least one.
