Vans Warped Tour 2018

I had the opportunity to go to the final show of Vans Warped Tour on West Palm Beach and it was a blast and a dream come true at the same time this time being also my very first time in one. I've been trying to go to one of this shows since I was a little kid but they would never go to Puerto Rico and it wasn't until I was an adult that I could travel to one of them by my own and that time was finally on August 5, 2018.

For this case I didn't really care who was playing or when, I just knew I really wanted to finally go to one of this shows and man was it amazing. Thankfully there was a lot of bands that I did actually like(and has also been featured in this blog) and some that were pretty good surprises. That being said I'm going to put a mini description of what I felt and liked with each band that I saw in this Fest, of course I didn't see all of them that is pretty impossible but I did see a bunch, here they go in order in which I saw them:

This Wild Life

This was the first band we actually sat down to watch after we were done exploring the fest and merch stands, I knew absolutely nothing about this band, even so they were pretty cool to watch and the drummer was especially impressive considering he basically played half the bands instruments at the same time, he literally just needed to sing and it was almost a one man band so it was very entertaining because of that.

Mayday Parade

Now this band was a pretty big surprise, I didn't know much of them but I did knew their name, even though I didn't recognized any of their songs they were really enjoyable, but by far the biggest cock tease of the day when they mentioned Blink 182 and almost made it seemed like they were actually going to randomly pop in and play with them, props for playing "The Rock Show" though.

Real Friends

Real Friends is a band that I know but not well enough because I did not recognized many of the songs except maybe one. I did came out with a little meh feeling because I really wanted to hear "Skeletons" even though I knew that wasn't going to happen, so in reality it isn't fair for me to say they were disappointing I just didn't know as much songs as I should've in this case. Other than that they play pretty darn good live.

The Amity Affliction

This band is yet another band I knew absolutely nothing about and went in to see because of my cousin, out of all the bands that I knew nothing about this was by far my favorite one. I came out very happy with it and really enjoyed how they played, will probably start looking them up now. Also I had like a fan thingy from them and it pretty much saved me from total heat stroke from time to time.

Senses Fail

These guys blew my mind. I know about them but is one of those bands that I just know like 2 songs because of video games like "Calling All Cars" in Burnout Paradise and "Can't Be Saved" in Guitar Hero, and they played both of them! not just that even the songs that I did not know were amazing and overall was by far one of my favorite shows of the day. Don't get me even started when they started covering bands in a sick montage, it was a very good show with a very energetic singer who was freaking cartwheeling and shit on stage. Purely amazing.

Ice Nine Kills

Now Ice Nine Kills was the first band of the day that I wanted to see, have been listening to for a lot of years and was in my must see of the day, in fact this is also one of the first bands here who already have a post in this blog. That being said I was very conflicted with this performance but I had a feeling I was going to feel that way even before I got there. For starters like I said I have been listening to this band for a long time so finally being able to see them was a plus and see them in customs and all was really awesome as well, but my favorite songs weren't played and I get that , they have a shit ton of songs and a fairly new album around and considering that my actual favorite album is their first one "Last Chance to Make Amends" and I knew for a fact that they don't play songs from that album which is a shame but I went in knowing that, even so it was a surprise to me that they didn't play "The Greatest Story Ever Told" I was ready to scream that like there was no tomorrow so for me it was a bittersweet show. All that being said they play amazing live and Spencer's vocals are ridiculously good live I was awe-struck with his singing.

Band of the Week: Ice Nine Kills

State Champs & New Found Glory

Now the reason why I put these two bands together is because when I went to see them I was pretty dead and tired from all the moshing in the last 3 bands, I don't really have many thoughts to them because I zoned out in both of them saving my energy for the bands that were coming next those were the bands I came to the tour most for. Also I knew both of their names but I have just heard cover songs from both bands, more notoriously the cover of New Found Glory for "That thing you do" I think that song is pretty sweet.

Reel Big Fish

Reel Big Fish is one of my favorite bands and one of the biggest push for me to come even though this would be the second time I've seen them live. In short they were really good, I think I enjoyed them a lot more the second time around, they were a lot more funnier and filled with energy that just pumped us all up, it was great to see them again, of course that being said they have already been covered in this blog.

Band of the Week: Reel Big Fish

30H!3

These guys were a total surprise honestly, I thought I just knew two songs "My First Kiss" and "Touching On My" and not only did they play those two songs, didn't really think they would play Touching On my, I'm glad they did but also I didn't know that I knew so many of their songs and sang along to all of the songs they played and was jumping the whole show, it was by far one of the best and biggest surprises of the day for me, also when the singer of Simple Plan joined it was purely awesome.

The Interrupters

The big one for me, this was the band I most wanted to see in the whole fest because they were a band I hadn't seen live yet and loved and boy did they blew my mind away, I am pretty sure I lost all my voice in this one as I screamed all the lyrics back, it was amazing in every level and really enjoyed them so much that I can't wait to see a whole show of them alone, looking forward to seeing more of them for sure. Also nice to notice that by this time it was starting to get emptier so the remainder ones in the crowds were mostly punk heads or ska enthusiasts so this was the best crowd to be in, I can't even describe how happy I was with this set it was just such a rush, very very happy with this one and the finally with "Family" were all of the bands and people got together to play it was just amazing made me wish to see Tim Armstrong pop out of nowhere to sing his parts and celebrate with everyone, truly a great time here.

Less Than Jake

To top it all off after the amazing show of The Interrupters the next band was Less Than Jake! this is yet another band I was seeing for the second time I saw them with Reel Big Fish a couple years back, this was just the cherry on top for me and then some members of Reel Big Fish played with them on "The Science of Selling Yourself Short" and it was just amazing, I did enjoy them more the first time around but it's because it was a full show with a bigger set list but it was still a great show from them nonetheless.

Band of the Week: Less Than Jake

Pennywise

Pennywise was the last band to play and it was truly something, I didn't know much from them but the two songs I did knew they did play it, and when they played Sublime it was a big plus for me, but they had one of the best endings of any show, all the remainder band members and crew and crowd that was there got together for the last chorus and lasted for a pretty long time, it was the perfect send away for the show and I am so glad that I was a part of it.

That concludes my experience in Vans Warped Tour 2018, some bands that I didn't list that I did see were Movements and We The Kings the reason for this is because I really didn't know absolutely nothing about them and didn't had enough opinions to hold for them separately that being said they both played really good in my opinion but I wasn't really paying much attention.

This fest was something else for me and I am glad I was a part of it with my friends is a day to remember for sure, It's sad it is the last one but at least I got to go to one and that's what matters in the end.
